Comments…...... In December 2022 Russia began issuing 5-ruble notes again after a 25 year hiatus. The new notes are like the discontinued notes of 1997 (B816a), but with a new lacquer coating, and distinctive two-letter prefixes beginning with ?.  It is assumed a shortage of raw metal and the need for a large increase in money in circulation are the underlying cause.
