The Isenheim Altarpiece was made between 1512 and 1516 by Mr. Mathis, said GRÜNEWALD (born in Würzburg in 1475-1480 - died in Halle in 1528).
The panel paintings and sculptures by Nicolas de Haguenau. The altarpiece in the chapel adjoining the Gothic cloister of the former convent of the Dominicans, today Uterlinden Museum in Colmar.
Made technical mixed (tempera and oil) on panels made of narrow planks of lindenmeetings with sharp joints, the altarpiece is composed of a central part - the body, where the sculptures are part of Saint Augustine, Saint Anthony and SaintJerome - fold on which two sets of shutters.
