A few words from the Pack:
" The Coronation Chair is known as King Edward's Chair. It was made to the order of Edward I in 1300 to enclose the legendary Stone of Scone and has been used for every coronation since that date. Made of oak, and once richly decorated, the Chair is at the centre of attention during the most significant points of coronation service.
The Ampulla and Spoon are the oldest objects among the Coronation Regalia. The Ampulla, a vessel of fine gold which contains the holy oil used to anoint the Sovereign, may well be the golden eagle, restored and redecorated, first used at the coronation of Henry IV in 1399.
The Anointing Spoon is made of silver, very heavily gilt, and the handle shows decoration characteristic of the late twelfth century. The consecrated oil is poured from the beak of the eagle into the spoon and the Archbishop anoints the Sovereign on the hands, breast and head. The Monarch is then invested with the ... "
